Why Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm Is Our New Favorite Fall Tradition

With so many pumpkin farms to choose from in the Chicago area, Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm stands out as a true family favorite. Yes, you’ll absolutely leave with pumpkins, but that’s almost beside the point.

Spread across 40 acres, this family-owned farm packs in a full day’s worth of entertainment. General admission covers 20 attractions, including a petting and feeding zoo, plenty of photo opportunities, and a corn maze that’s just as fun to wander without a map as it is with one. We let the kids take the lead through the maze, and honestly, getting a little lost was half the adventure.

New additions this season include the Statesville Zombie Paintball Ride and Lexi’s Jumpin’ Blob Jamboree, alongside a scaled-down zombie paintball course designed for younger visitors. A handful of extras like Pony Rides, Gem Mining, the Climbing Wall, and the Spooky Spiral are available for a small additional fee, but there’s more than enough included to keep the whole family busy from morning until closing.

What really sets Siegel’s apart, though, is the pumpkin picking itself. Rather than grabbing from a pre-harvested pile, you pick your pumpkins straight from the vine, a small detail that makes the whole experience feel genuinely special.

If you’re looking for a fall outing that goes well beyond the typical patch, Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm delivers a full, memorable day for the whole family.

  1. I love going to farms that have fun set up for kids. My husband and I took the kids last year to a corn maze and farm and they got to all pick their pumpkins. They had a blast.
