Skylanders Spyro's Adventure

I always on the lookout for great games for my kids to play. Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is one of those games. It is rated for 10+. However, my 4 and 7 year old have had had no problem with this game. Heck, they think it’s one of the best games on the market!

The background story is that the Skylanders have used their magical powers and weaponry to protect the Skylands from evil forces. However, a malicious tyrant has risen up to take down the Skylanders. He has frozen them and banished them to Earth. As a Portal Master, only you have the ability to place the Skylanders on the Portal of Power and bring them back to life to save Skylands forever.

The starter pack includes three unique Skylanders Character Interaction Figures, including Spyro, Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy, and a Portal of Power. I have to admit that this is the part of the game that impresses me the most. The figures that the game comes with can be used as toys. However, they also save your game play and can be brought to others homes that have the portal. Yes, you heard me right. It doesn’t matter what platform they have. You can play with your guy no matter where you go! Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure offers over 30 characters to bring out the kid in everyone. It’s all about choice, and each interaction figure has their own unique and expressive personality, powers and abilities which provide distinct advantages and skill sets for various levels, obstacles and enemies. As the tale unfolds, players will encounter a variety of vivid environments, each with its own unique look and feel, and each providing different challenges, puzzles, and the discovery of secret areas, rewards and mini-games. Players can also join forces with friends and drop in and out of each level with as many different interaction figures as they like. Different strategies can come into play as players can select their favorite characters to tag-team against certain obstacles, hazards and/or enemies within the different levels of the game. There is also a player vs. player mode. A classic battle mode provides a selection of different game modes and arena maps for players to face off against each other. Each unique arena map contains a variety of obstacles, hazards and power-ups. Players will want to make sure they build up their army of different characters and level them all up to battle their friends on equal ground.

My family and I are huge fans of Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure. There is just so much to love about it — multi platform, exploring game, the figures, I could go on and on. This is definitely one of the must have games for this holiday season!
