Rings that Tug the Healing Strings?

This is a guest post.

Men and women have worn jewelry for thousands of years. The earliest known forms were constructed of snail shells and date back 75,000 years ago. But now we prefer to eat our escargot and tastefully discard the shells in the provided bowl of fine china while wearing precious metals and jewels on our fingers and around our necks. Traditionally, fine jewelry has been worn to indicate one’s social status, wealth, and place of belonging. Although jewelry is still worn as “bling” to showcase one’s wealth and therefore success in the world, it can also be worn as a healing agent upon the body, mind and spirit.

Magnetic powers within

Jewels don’t just look stunning; they react with out bodies in a fascinating way. In an article on gemstone symbolism, the author explains that gems exhibit their power in a beneficial or detrimental way, depending on their intended use. Though the ability for gems to have “magical powers” is highly debatable, what isn’t debatable is their magnetic powers. After all, the incredible powers of jewels are recognized by modern science in the technological uses of crystals in watches, lasers and computers. However, their power to help balance human emotions eludes even modern science. Whether you believe that jewels have the ability to affect your mood and general physiology, or you don’t, it doesn’t really matter. Buying jewelry for looks and personal meaning will always reign supreme, but why not make jewelry shopping fun and add the physiological allure to it?

The jewel as dual

Aside from having a stunning ring on your finger made from a gem that has significant meaning to you (or simply that you love it for its natural stunning brilliance) you can enjoy your jewelry for its “mystical” elements, and select a gem based on your own life’s profile. For example, let’s say you were born in March and you are a scuba diving artist. You may want to consider wearing a ring, necklace, pendant or bracelet made from aquamarine. Aquamarine is the March birthstone, and it displays the color and brilliance of looking up at the ocean’s surface from down below on a scuba dive; the light hitting the clear, blue water shimmers and displays the identical color of the sea from this vantage point. Furthermore, aquamarine (on a physical / emotional level) is supposed to reduce fear, stimulate self-expression, cleanse the body, and strengthen and flush the lymphatic system. Whether you believe or doubt the abilities gems have, shopping for fine jewelry that you like but that also plays a hand in this “extracurricular” lore of attraction, will offer a fun conversational topic when you are out with your mom, or on a dinner date with a respectful gentleman. They may exclaim, “my, what an exquisite piece of jewelry that is”, to which you will titter and reply with a fun little educational retort.

A reflection of you

Whether you are out on a date, on your way to a family holiday gathering, or out for a night with your girlfriends, fine jewelry is appropriate for any occasion. You don’t have to believe that a diamond promotes clarity of thought, or that an opal relieves fatigue. You wear your jewelry with a difference, and as a way to accessorize your natural beauty with your chosen apparel. All in all, jewelry just makes you feel good.
