6 Movies You Should Watch Memorial Weekend

Memorial Day honors the men and women who died while serving in the military. Oftentimes, we observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades. Many of us may be binge watching Netflix. Here is a list of 10 movies that you should watch Memorial Weekend on Netflix to help us remember those who came before us and won us our freedom. (Each of these movies I've chose are all based on real life events.)

  1. Sandcastle – After the invasion of Iraq, a reluctant soldier platoon is dispatched on a dangerous mission to repair a hostile village's water system.
  2. Seal Team Six – US Navy Seal Team 6 trains for a critical mission, then executes a tough nighttime raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound.
  3. USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage –After becoming stranded in the Philippine Sea during WWII, a tenacious Navy crew faces a dire lack of supplies and a string of shark attacks.
  4. Patton –This epic production follows George S Patton as he guides his troops across Africa and Europe.
  5. The Longest Day –John Wayne stars in this Oscar winning epic about WWII.
  6. D-Day – Through dramatization, vivid imagery, and archive footage, this film spotlights an array of individuals involved in D-day.
