Oh yes, it is back to school time! I don't know about your kids, but my kids go back in a little over a week. You can see above that we have been having a fun time shopping for all school supplies we need! Now, we all know about the pencils and the pens and the notebooks our kids all need. However, there are items you don't think about too much until you need them. This is my list of some “non-traditional” back to school items that may not be on your radar.
New glasses with eye exams are a great way to start off a new school year. It's always good if our kids can see the board! We live in a state that eye exams are required before certain grades (mine get eye exams every year regardless). Best of all, there are so many great choices at places like JCPenney.
JCPenney Optical even has great designer brands and styles for everyone in the family, including Mom and Dad!
Best of all is the $39.99 price for Back to School Glasses for Kids. Sale includes large selection of frames, impact-resistant lenses, and eyewear protection plan! All things if you have kids on glasses! Trust me! Madison is nowhere near as rough on her glasses as Will is on his! You can enter the JCPenney Optical Back to School Photo Contest for a chance to win eye-catching prizes just in time for a new school year!
Another item to be on the lookout for this time of year is Anti-virus Software. With school requiring laptops and iPads now (and them coming home to your at home network), you can never be too safe. A good up-to-date antivirus program is a must have nowadays. One virus can effect your entire network of computers at home. If you work at home like me, it would be devastating.
For your older students, I recommend a set of headphones. It has helped my daughter tremendously at home to listen to music and tune her brother out when she's doing her homework. You don't have to spend a ton of money for a good set either!
Both my kids use an assignment notebook to keep track of tests/homework, etc. This is basically a kid version of a planner! I don't care how old you are, this is something you can use. You can use a formal one or just a notebook that just keeps track of what you/your kids need to do.
Lastly, you must also make sure that you have plenty of ink cartridges! With school back in session, there are reports and projects to print!
What are some of the overlooked items on your back to school list?
