The Basement Remodel: Flooring

I couldn’t wait. I snuck downstairs while the guys were on break and took some pictures of the flooring that we are getting put in. Right now, it doesn’t have any of the grout, but I think it sure does look nice. I am still worried if they are going to be finished tomorrow, but I guess I just have to be patient. The plan is to start moving the furniture in the garage back into the basement this weekend and leave the teak outdoor furniture in there till the party.

  1. This photo sure looks familiar. I tiled my bathroom, kitchen and dining room floors all by myself about 4 years ago. Also I ripped out a small portion of my carpet near my front door and made a small tiled entrance way. It was difficult, challenging, empowering and most of all I am so proud of what I did. But….I never want to do it again. It was very hard on my knees and legs. 🙂

  2. Given the rough treatment it is going to endure, I would sure lean towards vinyl tile. I would suggest you buy enough extra too, just in case you have a major disaster, which is certainly not out of the question, for a fraternity house.

This way, you can repair any really torn up places with the extra tile you bought. Might not be a bad idea to maybe have a set of rules to abide by, too.

You should be able to keep within budget and still come out with as nice as is necessary for that kind of use.
