Dear St. Louis de Montfort School Parents

**Note for my regular readers. My kids' school may possibly close. The Archdiocese has already closed a school in our area, and this is a letter to those parents. If you would like to help, please read: http://www.olor-school.org/help and donate whatever you can. My kids and I would be forever grateful. **

My family and I have prayed for you and your families. Our hearts are breaking for you with the closure of your school. We all know that feeling in the pit of your stomach, because we too are going through that. I know you are worried if you transfer your children to our school that you will be in the same boat again next year. Now, no one can guarantee that. No one can guarantee any school in the Archdiocese of Chicago will be open next year. What I can tell you is that we are doing everything within our power to stay open and need your help. How can you help?

  1. Pray for us. As we pray for your safe landing from this upheaval, please pray that we can stay open. Pray that our children won’t have to go through what your children are going through. We shall continue to keep you in our prayers.
  2. Come to our open house. The first 40 families who show up will receive a free Jump Zone or Oak Lawn Children’s Museum pass (one per family), and an OLOR Rockets water bottle, too. After you get your pass, please check out our school with an open heart and an open mind. I can tell you that when we were looking for a school for my then Kindergartener (she’s in 7th grade now), I fell in love in Our Lady Of The Ridge as soon as we walked it. Mrs. O’Leary (who is now retired) and Mrs. Krueger got down on one knee to talk to Madison. They got to her level, and I was impressed. I paid our enrollment fee that day.
  3. Enroll in our school. This is a decision I can confidently say you won’t regret. Better yet, if you enroll with friends and classmates from St. Louis de Montfort, you can keep your kids together…let them graduate and finish their academic journey together along with making new friends with our kids.
  4. Join us at our upcoming events (even if you don’t enroll in our school). We have a pancake breakfast (Feb 5) and a Mardi Gras gala (Feb 18) coming up. Your presence would be a gift. Plus, they are a great time!
  5. Attend the mixer that is currently being arranged for this Friday night (you should be getting something when you go back to school) so you can see our school and our community. Come with your kids! There will be food, drinks, music, and community.

At Our Lady Of The Ridge, we are small, but we are mighty. We have a marketing plan and an enrollment plan in place to ensure this doesn’t ever happen again. We just need time to implement this. We have an amazingly vibrant community that we would love you to join.

Have questions? Please contact me, the school, or any member of the school board. We want to answer your questions and welcome you with open arms.

I will definitely keep your school in my prayers. It’s hard to find school’s that provide a quality education and have a tight knit community. On a lighter note, I really love your logo. 🙂

It’s always heartbreaking when a great school closes. I’ll definitely pray for the school and the students. I do hope they find a way to keep the school open.

I really hope that you get to save your school. I am sure parents who decide their children there will not regret supporting your cause.

Sorry to hear this. My son’s school is closing too when we lived at my moms and the school in there area, but we moved so now we don’t have to worry about that transfer. It stinks because the kids love the school and friends and I feel bad for everyone that have to look for another job, but I am sure they help with that too.

So hard when you find a great school with wonderful caring teachers and staff only to have it close due to money. Hope and pray that everything turns out alright and you get to keep your school open.
