Madison’s (and ours, too) day took an unexpected turn as Madison grappled with symptoms that resembled the flu. Her ordeal started at 3:00 a.m., marked by bouts of vomiting that covered her bed, floor, and clothing. Within half an hour, another wave of sickness hit her. She’s definitely down with the sickness.
In response, I embarked on an early morning trip to Jewel at 4:00 a.m. in search of Pedialyte, bracing myself for what lay ahead. Her consumption remained minimal throughout the day—half a sippy cup of Pedialyte and around five saltine crackers were all she had all day. Desperation led me to introduce juice to her diet, which backfired when she couldn’t keep that down.
As a mom, the situation is exasperating because this peculiar sickness she’s contending with defies easy identification. Oddly enough, she isn’t running a fever, and she acts perfectly fine when she isn’t vomiting. I’m perplexed.
Consequently, Bill and I are tired today and need a nap. Another long night may await us, and we can only hope we won’t come down with the sickness.
The day’s challenges, however, extend beyond Madison’s illness. Despite our efforts to remove and tidy an old swing set that came with our house, our trash pickup created a new obstacle for us. The discarded materials, including decomposing wood chips and the dismantled swing set, were too heavy for collection. This means we must re-bag everything, adding to our frustrations. The day has certainly tested our patience, and I hope for a smoother path tomorrow.
